- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Mirin - 15 ml
- Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
- Green onion (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2 pieces
- Lettuce leaves - 2 large
- Tomato (sliced) - 1 medium
- Cucumber (sliced) - 1 small
- Miso paste - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
- Honey - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, mirin, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onion, and sesame oil. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal patties and refrigerate for 10 minutes to firm up.
- While the patties are chilling, prepare the miso sauce by whisking together miso paste, rice vinegar, and honey in a small bowl until smooth.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber. Drizzle with miso sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
- Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
