Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams (thinly sliced)
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Sake - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon (grated)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2 (chopped, for garnish)
  • White sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice - 2 cups (for serving)
  • Mixed vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms) - 200 grams (sliced)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for about 15 minutes to soak up the flavors.
  3. While the beef is marinating, prepare the mixed vegetables by slicing them into thin strips.
  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat and add a little oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Once hot, add the marinated beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until nicely browned and cooked through.
  6. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  7. In the same pan, add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for about 5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.
  8. Serve the grilled beef over cooked rice, topped with stir-fried vegetables, chopped green onions, and white sesame seeds.
