Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • White fish fillets (e.g., cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce (or coconut aminos for paleo) - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin (or a paleo-friendly sweetener) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions (sliced) - 2 stalks
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Drain the tofu and press it between two plates to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes.
  2. While the tofu is pressing, mix soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lemon juice in a bowl to create the marinade.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and add it to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with cooking spray or a little sesame oil.
  5. Remove the tofu from the marinade and place it on the grill pan. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. In the same pan, add the fish fillets, seasoning them with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are cooked through and flaky.
  7. Once both the tofu and fish are cooked, remove them from the heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve immediately, drizzling any remaining marinade over the dish if desired.
