Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Miso paste - 15 grams
  • Mirin - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - for grilling
  • Assorted vegetables (bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms) - 200 grams

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 equal steaks.
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, miso paste, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Place the tofu steaks in the marinade and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. While the tofu is marinating, prepare the vegetables by cutting them into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Heat a non-stick grill pan or outdoor grill over medium heat and lightly coat it with vegetable oil.
  6. Remove the tofu from the marinade and dust both sides with cornstarch to create a crispy coating.
  7. Grill the tofu steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and slightly charred.
  8. During the last few minutes of grilling, add the assorted vegetables to the grill and cook until they are tender and lightly charred.
  9. Serve the grilled tofu steaks hot, garnished with chopped green onions, alongside the grilled vegetables.
