- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
- Add the mackerel fillets to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove the mackerel from the marinade and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Place the mackerel fillets skin-side down on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes until the skin is crispy.
- Flip the fillets carefully and grill for another 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove from the grill and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
