Ingredients
- Beef ribeye or sirloin - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Mirin - 30 ml
- Sugar - 15 grams
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Cooked white rice - 400 grams
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Nori (seaweed) - 2 sheets, cut into strips
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
- Slice the beef into thin strips and add them to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- While the beef is marinating, prepare the cooked white rice and keep it warm.
- Heat a grill pan or BBQ grill over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade (reserving the marinade) and grill the beef strips for about 2-3 minutes on each side until cooked to your liking.
- In a small saucepan, bring the reserved marinade to a boil and then simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
- To serve, place the warm rice in bowls, top with the grilled beef, and drizzle with the reduced marinade. Garnish with chopped spring onions, sesame seeds, and strips of nori.
