Ingredients

  • Carrot - 100 grams, julienned
  • Zucchini - 100 grams, julienned
  • Red Bell Pepper - 50 grams, thinly sliced
  • Green Onion - 30 grams, finely chopped
  • Firm Tofu - 150 grams, crumbled
  • All-Purpose Flour - 50 grams
  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Vegetable Broth - 100 ml
  • Soy Sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable Oil - for frying
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the julienned carrot, zucchini, sliced red bell pepper, chopped green onion, and crumbled tofu.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, vegetable broth, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to create a batter.
  3. Pour the batter over the vegetable and tofu mixture, and gently mix until all ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
  5. Using a tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly to form patties.
  6. Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  7. Once cooked, remove the kakiage from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with a side of soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
