Ingredients

  • Cooked Japanese short-grain rice - 200 grams
  • Carrot - 1 medium, diced
  • Green peas - 50 grams
  • Bell pepper (red or yellow) - 1/2, diced
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the diced carrot and bell pepper to the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. Stir in the green peas and continue to cook for another 2 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps with a spatula.
  6. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, mixing well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Add the chopped green onion, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until the rice is heated through and slightly crispy.
  9. Remove from heat and serve hot, garnished with extra green onion if desired.
