Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium
  • Zucchini - 1 medium
  • Green onion - 3 stalks
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Wooden skewers - 4

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
  2. Chop the red bell pepper and zucchini into similar-sized pieces as the tofu.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  4. Add the tofu cubes and chopped vegetables to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  5. While marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.
  6. Preheat a grill pan over medium heat.
  7. Thread the marinated tofu and vegetables onto the soaked skewers alternately.
  8. Grill the skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the tofu is golden and the vegetables are tender.
  9. Sprinkle black sesame seeds over the grilled skewers before serving.
  10. Serve the Vegan Yakitori hot, garnished with chopped green onion.
