Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium
- Zucchini - 1 medium
- Green onion - 3 stalks
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Wooden skewers - 4
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2 cm cubes.
- Chop the red bell pepper and zucchini into similar-sized pieces as the tofu.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
- Add the tofu cubes and chopped vegetables to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- While marinating, soak the wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning during grilling.
- Preheat a grill pan over medium heat.
- Thread the marinated tofu and vegetables onto the soaked skewers alternately.
- Grill the skewers for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the tofu is golden and the vegetables are tender.
- Sprinkle black sesame seeds over the grilled skewers before serving.
- Serve the Vegan Yakitori hot, garnished with chopped green onion.
