Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Potato starch - 50 grams
  • Carrot - 50 grams, grated
  • Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Nori seaweed - 1 sheet, finely chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess water, then crumble it into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the grated carrot, chopped green onion, chopped nori, potato starch, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, black pepper, and water to the bowl with tofu.
  3. Mix all the ingredients until well combined, ensuring the mixture is sticky and holds together.
  4. Shape the mixture into oval cakes, about 2 cm thick.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a splash of oil.
  6. Cook the satsuma-age cakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and firm.
  7. Remove from the skillet and let them cool slightly before serving.
