Ingredients
- Unagi (grilled eel) - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Mirin - 30 ml
- Sake - 15 ml
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Cooked brown rice - 200 grams
- Steamed bok choy - 100 grams
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped scallions - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Heat over low flame until the sugar dissolves, then simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat. Place the grilled eel on the grill and brush generously with the sauce. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until heated through and caramelized.
- While the eel is grilling, prepare the brown rice according to package instructions and keep warm.
- Steam the bok choy until just tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- To serve, place a portion of brown rice on each plate, top with the grilled eel, and drizzle with any remaining sauce. Arrange the steamed bok choy on the side.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions before serving.
