- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Mirin - 15 ml
- Rice vinegar - 10 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Sesame seeds - 10 grams, toasted
- Wasabi - to taste
- Cucumber - 1 small, for garnish
- Radish - 1 small, for garnish
Steps
- Pat the tuna steak dry with paper towels and place it in the freezer for about 15 minutes to firm up, making it easier to slice.
- While the tuna is cooling, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl.
- Once the tuna is firm, remove it from the freezer and slice it into 1 cm thick pieces using a sharp knife.
- In a hot skillet over medium-high heat, sear the tuna slices for about 30 seconds on each side until browned but still rare in the center.
- Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest briefly before plating.
- Arrange the tuna slices on a plate, drizzle the dipping sauce over them, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
- Garnish the plate with thinly sliced cucumber and radish for a refreshing crunch.
- Serve with wasabi on the side for an extra kick.
