Ingredients
- Sushi rice - 200 grams
- Water - 250 ml
- Rice vinegar - 30 ml
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Fresh tuna (sashimi grade) - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Scallions (green onions) - 2 stalks
- Sesame seeds - 10 grams
- Nori sheets (seaweed) - 2 sheets
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 250 ml of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes to allow the rice to steam.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is ready, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Let it cool to room temperature.
- While the rice cools, slice the fresh tuna into thin sashimi slices.
- Chop the scallions finely.
- To assemble the don, divide the sushi rice between two bowls. Arrange the sliced tuna on top of the rice.
- Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the tuna. Sprinkle chopped scallions and sesame seeds on top.
- Cut nori sheets into strips and place on the side of each bowl for decoration. Serve immediately.
