  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Sake - 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Cut the tuna steak into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and water. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. Add the grated ginger and tuna cubes to the saucepan, gently stirring to coat the tuna in the sauce.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Let the tuna simmer for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the tuna is cooked through and tender.
  5. Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium-high to let the sauce reduce slightly, about 5 minutes.
  6. Drizzle sesame oil over the tuna and give it a final stir. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Serve the Tuna no Nitsuke hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
