Ingredients

  • Sushi rice - 150 grams
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Rice vinegar - 15 ml
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Fresh tuna (sushi grade) - 200 grams, diced
  • Soy sauce - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • Chopped green onion - 2 tablespoons
  • Nori seaweed sheets - 1, cut into strips
  • Wasabi - to taste
  • Pickled ginger - for serving

Steps

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice with 200 ml of water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. While the rice is cooking, prepare the sushi vinegar by mixing rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the sushi vinegar mixture. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the diced tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped green onion. Mix well and set aside.
  6. Once the rice has cooled, wet your hands with water to prevent sticking. Take a small amount of rice (about 30 grams) and shape it into an oval or ball.
  7. Wrap a strip of nori around the rice, leaving the top open to form a cup.
  8. Fill each nori-wrapped rice cup with the tuna mixture, pressing gently to hold it in place.
  9. Serve immediately with a small amount of wasabi and pickled ginger on the side.
