Ingredients
- Sushi rice - 150 grams
- Water - 200 ml
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 3 grams
- Fresh tuna (sushi grade) - 200 grams, diced
- Soy sauce - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Chopped green onion - 2 tablespoons
- Nori seaweed sheets - 1, cut into strips
- Wasabi - to taste
- Pickled ginger - for serving
Steps
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- Combine the rinsed rice with 200 ml of water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the sushi vinegar by mixing rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the sushi vinegar mixture. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, combine the diced tuna, soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped green onion. Mix well and set aside.
- Once the rice has cooled, wet your hands with water to prevent sticking. Take a small amount of rice (about 30 grams) and shape it into an oval or ball.
- Wrap a strip of nori around the rice, leaving the top open to form a cup.
- Fill each nori-wrapped rice cup with the tuna mixture, pressing gently to hold it in place.
- Serve immediately with a small amount of wasabi and pickled ginger on the side.
