Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 300 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Shichimi togarashi (Japanese spice blend) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Wooden skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, egg, green onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, salt, and shichimi togarashi.
  2. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a sausage-like roll around a wooden skewer.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  6. Serve the skewers warm with additional soy sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice.
