Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Steamed broccoli - 200 grams

Steps

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Slice the chicken breast into thin strips. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of sesame oil.
  3. Add the chicken strips to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  4. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken, reducing the heat to low. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken evenly.
  5. While the chicken cooks, steam the broccoli until tender, about 5 minutes.
  6. To serve, plate the teriyaki chicken topped with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, alongside the steamed broccoli.
