Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 250 grams
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
- Vegetable oil - 150 milliliters (for frying)
- Soft sandwich bread (white or whole wheat) - 4 slices
- Tonkatsu sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Cabbage (finely shredded) - 50 grams
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Start by preparing the chicken. Season the chicken breast with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the egg in another dish, and put the panko breadcrumbs in a third dish.
- Dredge the seasoned chicken in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded chicken and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fried chicken and place it on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- While the chicken is draining, toast the sandwich bread lightly if desired.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each slice of bread.
- On two slices of bread, place the fried chicken, followed by a generous drizzle of tonkatsu sauce, and top with shredded cabbage.
- Cover with the remaining slices of bread, slice the sandwiches in half, and serve immediately.
