Ingredients
- Salmon fillets - 2 pieces (150g each)
- Soy sauce (kosher) - 4 tablespoons
- Mirin - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions (sliced) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds (toasted) - 1 tablespoon
- Steamed rice (for serving) - 1 cup
Steps
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the teriyaki sauce.
- Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over the fillets. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later.
- Cook the salmon fillets skin-side down for about 4-5 minutes. Carefully flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily.
- In the last minute of cooking, pour the reserved teriyaki sauce over the salmon and let it caramelize slightly in the pan.
- Remove the salmon from the skillet and serve over steamed rice, drizzled with extra teriyaki sauce if desired. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
