- Mirin - 30 ml
- Honey - 15 grams
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Cucumber - 1 small, sliced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create the teriyaki marinade.
- Place the chicken breast in the marinade and let it sit for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor).
- Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- While the chicken is grilling, lightly toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes, then slice it into strips.
