Ingredients

  • Nori sheets - 4 sheets
  • Sushi rice - 200 grams
  • Rice vinegar - 30 ml
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Fresh sashimi-grade salmon - 100 grams, sliced
  • Fresh sashimi-grade tuna - 100 grams, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 small, julienned
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml, for dipping
  • Wasabi - to taste
  • Pickled ginger - for serving

Steps

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then cook it according to the package instructions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare the vegetables by julienning the cucumber and carrot, and slicing the avocado.
  4. Cut the nori sheets in half to create rectangles. Place a small amount of sushi rice on one end of the nori, about 1/4 cup (60 grams).
  5. Top the rice with a few pieces of salmon, tuna, cucumber, avocado, and carrot.
  6. Starting from the rice end, roll the nori into a cone shape, tucking in the filling as you go. Seal the edge with a little water.
  7. Repeat the process for the remaining nori sheets and fillings.
  8. Serve the sushi temaki immediately with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
