Ingredients

  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
  • Beef (thinly sliced, optional) - 100 grams
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams
  • Tofu (firm, cubed) - 150 grams
  • Napa cabbage - 150 grams
  • Green onions - 2 stalks
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Mirin - 30 ml
  • Sake - 30 ml
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 300 ml

Steps

  1. Prepare all ingredients: peel and devein the shrimp, thinly slice the beef, cube the tofu, and chop the napa cabbage and green onions.
  2. In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the sliced beef (if using) and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the shiitake mushrooms and napa cabbage to the pot, stirring for another 2 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add the shrimp and tofu to the pot. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
