- Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 300 grams
- Beef (thinly sliced, optional) - 100 grams
- Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams
- Tofu (firm, cubed) - 150 grams
- Napa cabbage - 150 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Mirin - 30 ml
- Sake - 30 ml
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 300 ml
Steps
- Prepare all ingredients: peel and devein the shrimp, thinly slice the beef, cube the tofu, and chop the napa cabbage and green onions.
- In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the sliced beef (if using) and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the shiitake mushrooms and napa cabbage to the pot, stirring for another 2 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Pour in the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Add the shrimp and tofu to the pot. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
