Ingredients

  • beef sirloin, thinly sliced - 200 grams
  • tofu, firm - 150 grams, cut into cubes
  • shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • green onions - 4 stalks, cut into 5 cm pieces
  • napa cabbage - 200 grams, chopped
  • carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • soy sauce - 60 ml
  • mirin - 30 ml
  • sake - 30 ml
  • sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • water - 300 ml
  • sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large skillet or shallow pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and sauté until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef in the skillet, and add the water.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then add the tofu cubes, shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage, carrot, and green onions.
  6. Cover and cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
