Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sriracha - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, finely chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Avocado - 1/2, sliced
  • Vegan mayo - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Drain the tofu and press it gently to remove excess water, then crumble it into a bowl.
  2. Add soy sauce, Sriracha, garlic powder, ginger powder, chopped green onion, salt, and black pepper to the crumbled tofu and mix well.
  3. Form the tofu mixture into two equal-sized patties and coat them in panko breadcrumbs on both sides.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the tofu patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While the patties are cooking, mix vegan mayo and lemon juice in a small bowl to make a zesty sauce.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading the zesty sauce on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, the crispy tofu patty, slices of tomato, and avocado, and then top with the other half of the bun.
