Ingredients

  • puff pastry - 250 grams
  • salmon fillet - 200 grams
  • green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • cream cheese - 100 grams
  • sriracha sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
  • cilantro - a handful, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth.
  3. Dice the salmon fillet into small pieces and fold it into the cream cheese mixture along with the chopped green onions.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit a pie dish (approximately 28 cm in diameter).
  5. Place half of the rolled puff pastry in the pie dish, allowing the edges to overhang.
  6. Spoon the salmon mixture into the pastry-lined pie dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Cover the filling with the other half of the puff pastry, sealing the edges by crimping them together.
  8. Cut a few slits in the top pastry to allow steam to escape and brush the surface with the beaten egg.
  9. Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top for added texture.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  11. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped cilantro.
  12. Cut into wedges and serve warm.
