Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 200 grams
  • Carrot, finely chopped - 50 grams
  • Green onions, finely chopped - 30 grams
  • Shiitake mushrooms, finely chopped - 30 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 1 clove
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (kosher) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Wonton wrappers - 10 pieces
  • Water - for steaming

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped carrot, green onions, shiitake mushrooms, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center. Gather the edges of the wrapper and pinch them together to form a cup shape, leaving the top open. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a simmer in a pot. Place the shumai in a single layer on a steaming rack lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  4. Cover and steam the shumai for about 15-20 minutes or until the filling is cooked through and firm.
  5. Serve warm with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
