- Satoimo (taro root) - 300 grams
- Dashi stock - 300 ml
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Sake - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions (for garnish) - 1 tablespoon, chopped
Steps
- Peel the satoimo and cut them into large chunks, approximately 3-4 cm each.
- In a pot, combine the dashi stock, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add the satoimo chunks to the pot and cover. Allow to simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the satoimo is tender and easily pierced with a fork.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes to absorb flavors.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions.
