- Satoimo (taro root) - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Mirin - 15 ml
- Dashi stock (or water) - 100 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Chopped green onion - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- Peel the satoimo and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- In a pot, add the satoimo and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes or until tender.
- Drain the satoimo and set aside.
- In the same pot, combine soy sauce, mirin, dashi stock, and sesame oil. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the cooked satoimo to the pot and gently stir to coat them in the sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the satoimo absorbs the flavors.
- Remove from heat, season with salt to taste, and transfer to a serving dish.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
