Ingredients
- Salmon fillets - 2 x 150g
- Soy sauce - 60ml
- Mirin - 30ml
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon (15g)
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2, sliced for garnish
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)
- Cooked rice - 300g (to serve)
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki sauce.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil if necessary. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.
- Flip the salmon fillets over and pour the teriyaki sauce over them. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, spooning the sauce over the fillets as they cook, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the salmon rest for a minute. Serve the salmon over cooked rice, drizzled with the remaining teriyaki sauce, and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
