- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Sake - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 50 ml
- Cooked white rice - 2 cups
- Green onions (sliced) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Steamed broccoli - 100 grams
- Pickled ginger - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat your grill or broiler to medium-high heat.
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it reduce for about 5 minutes to create a glaze.
- Place the grilled eel on the grill and brush it with the glaze. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side until heated through and slightly caramelized.
- While the eel is grilling, prepare the rice according to package instructions if not already cooked.
- Once the eel is ready, slice it into bite-sized pieces.
- Serve the cooked rice in bowls, top with the grilled eel, and drizzle any remaining glaze over the top.
- Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and serve with steamed broccoli on the side. Add pickled ginger for an extra zing.
