Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 2 pieces (150g each)
  • Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon wedges - 2 pieces
  • Shiso leaves - 4 leaves (optional)
  • Cooking oil - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the mackerel fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Sprinkle sea salt evenly on both sides of the fillets, then let them sit for about 10 minutes to allow the salt to penetrate.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Lightly brush the grill with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the mackerel fillets skin-side down on the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the skin is crispy and the fish is cooked through.
  6. Carefully flip the fillets and grill the other side for another 3-5 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, remove the fillets from the grill and let them rest for a minute.
  8. Serve the fish with lemon wedges and shiso leaves on the side for added flavor.
