Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (e.g., cod or snapper) - 300 grams
  • Asparagus - 100 grams
  • Carrot - 50 grams
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 50 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, sliced
  • Lemon - 1, juiced
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 500 milliliters

Steps

  1. Prepare all the vegetables by washing and slicing them into bite-sized pieces. Cut the asparagus into 5 cm lengths and julienne the carrot.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Place the white fish fillets in the marinade and let them sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. In a steaming pot or bamboo steamer, layer the vegetables (asparagus, carrot, and shiitake mushrooms) evenly at the bottom.
  5. Remove the fish from the marinade and place it on top of the vegetables in the steamer.
  6. Pour the water into the steaming pot, cover, and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and steam for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Once cooked, carefully remove the steamer from the heat. Serve the steamed fish and vegetables on a plate, garnished with sliced green onions.
