Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as cod or halibut) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce (halal) - 4 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Sake (halal) - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 200 milliliters
  • Fresh ginger, sliced - 10 grams
  • Scallions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Carrot, julienned - 50 grams
  • Daikon radish, julienned - 50 grams

Steps

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and water. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced ginger, carrot, and daikon radish to the saucepan. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  3. Gently place the fish fillets into the saucepan, ensuring they are submerged in the sauce. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.
  4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Once done, carefully remove the fish and vegetables from the saucepan and arrange them on serving plates.
  6. Drizzle the sauce over the fish, sprinkle with chopped scallions, and finish with a drizzle of sesame oil before serving.
