Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as cod or snapper) - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Mirin - 30 ml
- Sake - 30 ml
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon (15 grams)
- Ginger (sliced) - 1 piece (about 10 grams)
- Green onions (sliced) - 1 stalk
- Water - 200 ml
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon (5 ml)
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, sliced ginger, and water. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add the white fish fillets to the saucepan, ensuring they are submerged in the liquid.
- Cover the saucepan and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, spooning the sauce over the fish occasionally, until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Once cooked, carefully transfer the fish to a serving plate.
- Increase the heat to reduce the sauce for an additional 5 minutes, if desired, to concentrate the flavors.
- Drizzle sesame oil over the fish and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
