Ingredients
- Mackerel fillets - 200 grams
- Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Burger buns - 2 pieces
- Iceberg lettuce - 2 leaves
- Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
- Cucumber - 1/2 medium, sliced
- Wasabi paste - 1 teaspoon
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the sea salt, soy sauce, and mirin to create a marinade.
- Coat the mackerel fillets with the marinade and let them sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a grill pan over medium heat.
- Grill the marinated mackerel fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
- While the mackerel is cooking, mix the wasabi paste with mayonnaise in a small bowl to create the wasabi mayo.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill pan for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by spreading wasabi mayo on the bottom bun, adding a lettuce leaf, followed by the grilled mackerel fillet, tomato slices, and cucumber slices.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and close the burger with the top bun.
- Serve immediately with your choice of side.
