Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 200 grams
  • Sea salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Burger buns - 2 pieces
  • Iceberg lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1/2 medium, sliced
  • Wasabi paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the sea salt, soy sauce, and mirin to create a marinade.
  2. Coat the mackerel fillets with the marinade and let them sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a grill pan over medium heat.
  4. Grill the marinated mackerel fillets for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.
  5. While the mackerel is cooking, mix the wasabi paste with mayonnaise in a small bowl to create the wasabi mayo.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill pan for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading wasabi mayo on the bottom bun, adding a lettuce leaf, followed by the grilled mackerel fillet, tomato slices, and cucumber slices.
  8. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and close the burger with the top bun.
  9. Serve immediately with your choice of side.
