  • Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted

Steps

  1. Pat the mackerel fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the mackerel fillets skin-side down.
  3. Sear the mackerel for about 2-3 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden brown, then flip and sear the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes until just cooked through.
  4. Remove the mackerel from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing it into thin pieces.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together lemon juice, coconut aminos, and grated ginger to create a dipping sauce.
  6. Serve the sliced mackerel drizzled with the dipping sauce and garnished with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
