Ingredients

  • Mackerel fillets - 300 grams
  • Coconut aminos - 60 ml
  • Rice vinegar - 30 ml
  • Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic cloves - 2, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine coconut aminos, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Place the mackerel fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Remove the mackerel from the marinade, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.
  4. Cook the mackerel for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  5. Once cooked, transfer the mackerel to a plate, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and black sesame seeds.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
