- Coconut aminos - 60 ml
- Rice vinegar - 30 ml
- Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic cloves - 2, minced
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish
Steps
- In a bowl, combine coconut aminos, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Place the mackerel fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Remove the mackerel from the marinade, allowing any excess liquid to drip off.
- Cook the mackerel for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Once cooked, transfer the mackerel to a plate, and sprinkle with chopped green onions and black sesame seeds.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
