- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 20 grams
- Fresh strawberries - 4 (for garnish)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sweet rice flour and granulated sugar. Gradually add water while stirring until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour the mixture into a greased tart pan and spread evenly. Bake for 15 minutes or until set and slightly golden.
- In a saucepan, whisk together egg yolks, milk, matcha powder, and vanilla extract over low heat until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir constantly to avoid curdling.
- Remove the tart crust from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Pour the matcha custard into the cooled mochi tart crust and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Return the tart to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes to firm up the custard.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely at room temperature.
- Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
