Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • White miso paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu between paper towels or a clean kitchen cloth to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the white miso paste, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes or slabs and place them in the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to 1 hour for more flavor.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Remove the tofu from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through.
  6. Once grilled, remove the tofu from the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  7. Serve the grilled tofu hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
