Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • White miso paste - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Mirin - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Green onions - 2, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the miso paste, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  3. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little sesame oil to coat the bottom.
  4. Add the cubed tofu to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Pour the miso glaze over the tofu in the skillet and gently stir to coat the tofu evenly.
  6. Let the tofu simmer in the glaze for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
