Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the kuzu starch in 100 milliliters of cold water, stirring until smooth.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the remaining 400 milliliters of water, maple syrup, coconut milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Heat the saucepan over medium heat until the mixture begins to simmer.
  4. Once simmering, slowly add the dissolved kuzu starch to the saucepan while stirring continuously.
  5. Continue to stir until the mixture thickens to a smooth, pudding-like consistency, about 5 minutes.
