Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 200 grams, cubed
- Beef sirloin - 200 grams, cubed
- Bell pepper - 1 medium, cut into squares
- Zucchini - 1 medium, sliced
- Red onion - 1 medium, cut into wedges
- Soy sauce - 50 ml
- Mirin - 30 ml
- Sake - 30 ml
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes if wooden)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Divide the marinade in half; marinate the cubed chicken in half for 15 minutes and the cubed beef in the other half for 15 minutes.
- While the meat is marinating, prepare the vegetables by cutting them into skewer-friendly sizes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken, beef, and vegetables alternately onto the skewers.
- Once the grill is hot, place the skewers on it and grill for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Remove from the grill and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
- Serve the skewers on a platter, drizzling any leftover marinade over the top for added flavor.
