Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
  • Mirin - 2 tablespoons
  • Sake - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
  • Wooden skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes)

Steps

  1. Cut the beef sirloin into bite-sized pieces, approximately 2.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  3. Add the beef pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Thread the marinated beef pieces onto the soaked wooden skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  6. Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness is achieved.
  7. Remove from the grill and let rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
