Ingredients
- Chicken breast - 300 grams, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large, beaten
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Skewers - 4-6 (soaked in water for 30 minutes if wooden)
- TonKatsu sauce - for serving
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Dip the floured chicken into the beaten egg, ensuring it is well coated.
- Roll the chicken in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Thread the coated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving space between each piece.
- In a deep pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully add the skewers to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary, for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the skewers from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with TonKatsu sauce for dipping.
