Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large, beaten
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Skewers - 4-6 (soaked in water for 30 minutes if wooden)
  • TonKatsu sauce - for serving

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  3. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten egg, ensuring it is well coated.
  4. Roll the chicken in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Thread the coated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving space between each piece.
  6. In a deep pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to 180°C (350°F).
  7. Carefully add the skewers to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary, for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the skewers from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with TonKatsu sauce for dipping.
