Ingredients
- Chicken thigh - 300 grams, boneless and skinless
- Soy sauce (Kosher) - 60 ml
- Mirin (Kosher) - 30 ml
- Sake (Kosher) - 30 ml
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon (15 grams)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Skewers - 4 (soaked in water if wooden)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Cut the chicken thighs into 2.5 cm cubes and add them to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well coated, then cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill the skewers for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks, basting with leftover marinade halfway through.
- Once cooked, remove from the grill and sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
