Ingredients
- Koshihikari rice - 1 cup (200g)
- Water - 1.2 cups (300ml)
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Mirin - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
- Dashi (vegan) - 1 teaspoon (5g)
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon (5ml)
- Green onions - 2 stalks, thinly sliced
- Nori (seaweed) - 1 sheet, cut into strips
Steps
- Rinse the Koshihikari rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
- In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Let it soak for 30 minutes to enhance the texture.
- After soaking, add soy sauce, mirin, and vegan dashi to the pot with the rice. Stir gently to combine.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice steam in the pot for an additional 10 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork and drizzle sesame oil over it. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and mix lightly.
- Serve the rice warm, garnished with nori strips.
