Ingredients

  • Firm Tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy Sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple Syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons (for frying)
  • Sesame Seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
  • Green Onions - 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade, gently tossing to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss gently until evenly coated.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once cooked, remove the tofu from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  8. Transfer the tofu to a serving plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, and serve immediately.
