Ingredients

  • Korean radish (mu) - 200 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Korean red pepper flakes (gochugaru) - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion - 1 stalk, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Wash the Korean radish thoroughly and peel it using a vegetable peeler.
  2. Cut the radish into thin matchstick strips or small cubes, depending on your preference.
  3. In a mixing bowl, sprinkle the cut radish with salt and toss well. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
  4. After 10 minutes, rinse the radish under cold water and drain well.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine sugar, gochugaru, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and sesame oil to create the spicy dressing.
  6. Add the drained radish to the bowl with the dressing and mix well until all pieces are evenly coated.
  7. Allow the mixture to marinate for an additional 5 minutes to enhance the flavors.
  8. Serve the spicy radish in a small dish, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
