Ingredients

  • Cooked rice - 200 grams
  • Nori sheets - 4 sheets
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
  • Spinach - 100 grams, blanched and drained
  • Egg - 2 large, beaten
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. 1. Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.
  2. 2. While the rice is cooling, prepare the vegetables: julienne the carrot and cucumber, and blanch the spinach in boiling water for 1-2 minutes before draining.
  3. 3. In a frying pan, heat a little oil and scramble the beaten eggs until cooked, then remove from heat.
  4. 4. In a bowl, mix the cooked rice with sesame oil and salt to enhance the flavor.
  5. 5. Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down, and spread a thin layer of rice (about 100 grams) evenly over the nori, leaving a 2 cm border at the top.
  6. 6. Layer the vegetables (carrot, cucumber, spinach) and scrambled egg in a line across the rice.
  7. 7. Starting from the bottom, carefully roll the nori and rice over the filling, pressing gently but firmly to keep it tight.
  8. 8. Once rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the gimbap into bite-sized pieces, sprinkling black sesame seeds on top.
  9. 9. Repeat with the remaining nori sheets and filling until all ingredients are used.
  10. 10. Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
