Ingredients
- Cooked Japanese short-grain rice - 200 grams
- Kombu seaweed - 10 grams
- Green tea leaves - 2 teaspoons
- Water - 500 ml
- Soy sauce - 2 teaspoons
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Chopped green onions - 2 tablespoons
- Nori (seaweed) strips - for garnish
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil and then remove from heat.
- Add the kombu seaweed to the hot water and let it steep for about 10 minutes.
- Once steeped, remove the kombu from the water and discard it (or save it for another use).
- Add the green tea leaves into the kombu-infused water and let it steep for another 3-5 minutes.
- Strain the tea into a bowl and add soy sauce and salt to taste.
- In serving bowls, place 100 grams of cooked rice in each bowl.
- Ladle the kombu tea over the rice until it is just submerged.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top.
- Garnish with nori strips and serve immediately.
